About Slam Chi
A Guide to a better place
Slam Chi Grand Master - Snaghwan
Before you start
Slam Chi assumes you have a rudimentary knowledge of meditation and are familiar with some of the suggested approaches to performing mediation on your own. Slam Chi is like a plugin or add-on to other meditations and can be used in conjunction with other disciplines or as a standalone practice. Once you are comfortable with the practice of Slam Chi and have found some kind of relative success, you may choose to replace any other meditation you perform with Slam Chi, and make it your sole practice.
Questions
What is Slam Chi? – An alternate type of meditation compared to other current practices. Slam Chi shares many common mechanics with these others but also has its own unique approach to deriving the benefits of the practice.
What is the point of slam chi? What can be accomplished? – People have reported better states of relaxation, reduced stress, living a more harmonic life, and elimination of negative thinking. Slam Chi can show you the way to relaxation, a way to develop inner peace, possibly a way to inner enlightenment, maybe a way to increased creativity., and attraction of positive energy. At some point, you can try to manifest self-improvement, like creativeness, awareness, charisma, ability to learn, healthiness, physicality, awareness, confidence, etc., all personal growth things, but you must reach a certain level first. Many of the same benefits from other meditations can be derived through Slam Chi. Level I concentrates on relaxation and stress reduction while level II pursues higher degrees of enlightenment.
Who is it for? – Anybody who can understand the fundamentals and would like to try something new.
Is there certification? – Currently, Slam Chi offers two levels of certification. This is not a requirement and you can practice Slam Chi for as long as you like, and derive the benefits, without the official certificate. If you do wish to receive a certificate, these can be requested from Slam Chi International by visiting the web site. Certification is free and self-proctored. For more details please visit the website.
How many levels are there? There are six functional levels, and the Grand Master. Each level builds on skills developed in prior levels. Levels are numbered from one to four, level five is named Elder and level six is named Master.
Preparation
There are no special material or environmental requirements for Slam Chi, whatever or however you currently meditate is all that is required.
No candles, incense, bowls, water, objects, shrines, candles, altars, cleansing or talismans, colours, numbers, audio queues, or smells are required unless it is part of your regular meditation ritual. Slam Chi levels I and II require no extras, the discipline is conquered completely internally. Optionally in level II, you may incorporate sound frequencies if you wish.
Avoid meditating directly after stimulation: e.g. watching tv, movies, reading, eating, exercise or exertion, consuming alcohol, etc. Avoid anything that will cause your mind to be immediately occupied or distracted by thoughts related to these actions, just as you start your meditation.
Dress code: wear as little as possible, no hats, gloves, watches, remove all jewelry if possible, remove as much clothing as you are comfortable with. Basically, become as unencumbered as you can.
Execution
Slam Chi can be practiced daily, more frequently is not recommended, if you did not accomplish a meditative state the first time of the day you tried, not much has changed and you will probably not get a different results later that same day. Come back and try again tomorrow.
A Slam Chi session should last about 20 to 30 minutes. A longer time is okay, but the benefits of Slam Chi can be achieved with about 20 to 30 minutes a day. You determine the time limit. Start out at 20, then if you see results, that is as long as you have to go. Not seeing any results, try extending your time by adding some more minutes the next time you try. Continue adding a few minutes each time until you are at about 30. You can practice Slam Chi at any time of the day. However, it is best to try and find a regular time each day to practice. Keeping in mind it is still better to practice at a different time on any given day than it is to completely miss a session.
A deprecated practice which you may choose to continue or not, totally up to you, is; in preparation for each session, you can execute a brief Slam Chi poem and/or position (before, after, or both) with your meditation. This has now become totally optional.
Slam Chi is simple: Assume your chosen meditation position, this has no bearing on the Slam Chi, as long as you are comfortable. Set a timer for one minute longer than your chosen meditation length. Close your eyes and briefly get comfortable, take note of your surroundings, and settle in. Now, start repeating the mantra you have chosen or been assigned. More discussion on mantras is below. This is your only purpose for the next 20 minutes. The only thing you need to do is repeat your mantra in your head. If you start to notice you are repeating it faster, slower, melodically, with a different pronunciation, or any other variation, do not worry, this is fine just continue to repeat it with any variations that are introduced. If other thoughts invade just ignore and go back to repeating the mantra. Do not concentrate on anything, just repeat the mantra. If you start to question anything, stop thinking about it, and just go back to repeating the mantra. Just take the mantra as it comes. Your only objective is to continue repeating the mantra. Continue repeating the mantra until your time is up. You may wish to synchronize the repeating of your mantra with your breathing, either on the inbreath or the out breath. Some students use this technique; however, it must be executed rhythmically or without thought, as this will draw attention away from the meditation. When your alarm sounds, slowly bring yourself back out of your meditative state and open your eyes. Take a moment, then resume your normal activities.
About Mantras
The only thing you need to participate in Slam Chi, which you may already have, is a mantra. Generally speaking, a mantra is usually a three word phrase that is meaningless to you. There are a number of sanctioned mantras registered with Slam Chi International. These are not secret and are only maintained as a courtesy, to give new students a readily accessible pool of mantras to try out. These mantras have seen success with others. Students are free to create their own mantras. If you choose to create your own, then you should follow these guidelines:
-
Should be a three or four word phrase.
-
The phrase should be meaningless to you.
-
Pseudo-words have the best results.
-
The phrase should be strong enough to command your attention.
-
The phrase has no religious meaning.
That’s it, very simple. Choose a mantra or make up your own, if it is effective then you will be successful. While mantras are not secret, some students feel it is personal and choose to keep it to themselves, especially if it has been their own creation. There is nothing wrong with this. If at any point you feel your mantra has become to familiar and it no longer holds your concentration, or you feel it has become second nature, you should move on to another mantra. Some students never have this problem, but you should not feel attached to any given mantra, it is only a vehicle.
Practitioners of Slam Chi may submit mantras to be considered as an officially sanctioned mantra to be included on the registration list. For anyone interested you may submit a manta of your own creation for consideration here. Optionally, include an email address if you wish to be notified of the decision::
Official Slam Chi registered mantras as of November 2020.

Advanced Studies
After having success with level I Slam Chi, the student may wish to continue with a more involved practice, advancing to level II. There is no need to advance if you are happy with what you have achieved. Level II Slam Chi is a modification to the mantra chanting. It involves more specific relationships to areas of the body. Many practitioners find this level more meaningful when trying to improve body health or looking for other levels of enlightenment. The Grand Master believes that certain body locations are related to portals of enlightenment. These portals are identified as body locations and have related colours, audio frequencies, skills, and energies.
The level II practice is the same as level I practice in every way, except while chanting your mantra you hold an image in your head of the portal you are actively mastering. The image may be of the body location, the associated colour, or the frequency wave pattern. Level II adds only one additional thing, that is all.
Mastering means: Continue to meditate with your mantra concentrating on the portal you are attempting to master until you have some kind of actual physical reaction in the area. This is hard to describe because it can manifest differently in every person. Some students report heat, cold, vibration, pressure, release of tension, and others, but your experience may be completely different. You will know when it happens, because it will be something out of the usual for you. This will be reinforced if you can repeat the sensation in subsequent Slam Chi sessions.
An outside practice which is not considered canon to Slam Chi, but practices by some, is to play the associated portal frequency at a level barely perceptible through a set of headphones while meditating. This is not part of Slam Chi, but there are no objections from the Master if it helps the individual achieve their goals.
You can re-visit any portal at any time for reinforcement. Portal studies can be done in any sequence except for portal ten, this must be the final portal mastered, after all other portals have been mastered successfully. Once you have mastered portal ten you have achieved SC Lvl II
For those of you who are interested in the variations of each portal, the chart below outlines the various body locations, colours, and frequencies associated with each Slam Chi portal. Related videos can be found on the Slam Chi YouTube channel (https://bit.ly/slamchiyt)
